Echlinville Irish Whiskey Distillery which has become famous in recent years for both its Jaw Box and Echlinville Pot Still Gin and Dunville Irish Whiskey, became Northern Ireland’s first new licensed whiskey distillery in over 125 years distilling its first spirit in 2013.
Their key message is that “We will not compromise in our desire to produce the finest whiskey conceivable. We will give it authenticity and provenance. It will tell the story of the land from which it originates, and of those who brought it to life”.
Echlinville’s extraordinary new still house is not only a functional space for production but can easily lend itself to entertaining guests. Their newly launched Visitor Tours and Tasting Experiences offer a real insight into the workings of an operational distillery and working floor maltings.
The barley for Echlinville Gin and Whiskey is grown in the fields surrounding the distillery and we have revived the age old tradition of distillery floor malting. We truly are producing spirit from field to glass.
Echinville really appreciate the importance of terroir. They have worked this Ards Peninsula Estate and land through generations of their families. They know its unique topography, its rich soil, its saline air and its temperate climate. This inherent understanding, the sensitivity to place, empowers Echlinville Distillery to produce spirit unique in character and true of place.
